Adjustment disorders are stress-related that lead to a heightened level of emotional and/or behavioral responses.  They are temporary, but can cause problems in everyday living. Counseling is recommended in order to help decrease symptoms or emotional/behavioral responses to help that person get back to feeling more like themselves.  Adjustment disorders can be caused by the following:  a death in the family, parental divorce, family fights, problems in school,  or seeing a traumatic event.
